Melissa Rosenberg a profité de la sortie du DVD de New Moon pour parler de Breaking Dawn, sur le script duquel elle est en train de travailler.
"Comment faîtes-vous pour condenser un livre de 800 pages en un film de deux heures ?
Très prudemment. Le début, la fin, le voyage émotionnel des personnages... C'est le plus important à capturer. On peut ajouter le reste, mais il est important de garder l'émotion des personnage comme dans le livre et de le faire partage avec les spectateurs. C'est le but qu'on veut atteindre. Certains disent que j'y suis arrivée, d'autres disent que non.
Avez-vous déjà eu des réactions de fans pour avoir coupé certaines scènes ?
J'ai un site où les fans peuvent s'exprimer, me dire lorsque j'ai coupé trop de scènes ou si mon travail leur convient. Ils sont très respectueux. Il existe d'autres sites que je ne lis pas car je ne peux pas gérer autant d'intensité. On ne peut pas faire le bonheur de tout le monde, mais on essaie de contenter un maximum de fans.
Le dernier sera-t-il un challenge vu que c'est le plus volumineux ?
Oui, c'est le plus volumineux, ce sera un grand challenge et je peux d'ores et déjà garantir que tous les fans ne vont pas être ravis, mais je peux aussi vous dire que certains le seront.
J'ai abandonné l'idée de contenter tout le monde, ça n'arrivera jamais, mais vous espérer en rendre un maximum heureux. Encore une fois, ce dernier tome concerne le "voyage" de Bella. Il est important, c'est un grand changement pour elle.
Toujours concernant Breaking Dawn, où en êtes-vous dans le planning, la production est-elle prévue pour bientôt ?
C'est prévu pour très bientôt, on est en pleine discussion et on travaille actuellement sur l'histoire... On est en plein dedans.
Savez-vous quand le feu vert sera officiellement donné ?
Je ne sais pas, mais bientôt... Les vampires ne sont pas supposés vieillir."

MR: “Very carefully. You start with, and you end with, what is the emotional journey for these characters. That is the most important thing to capture, that is the only thing to capture. Everything else is up for grabs, but you must take these characters on the same emotional journey that they took in the book, and hence take the audience on the same emotional journey that they took in the book and that’s the goal, you hope that you achieve that. some people would say I did, some people would say I don’t.”

MR: “I have a fan site, and the fans will weigh in and say wow! you’ve cut too many things out.. or say I’ve done a fantastic job. They are very kind on my site, there are other sites I know that I don’t read, because I can’t handle that kind of intensity.
